Comets too much for Donaldsonville

DONALDSONVILLE – St. Charles Catholic proved too much for Donaldsonville with a 21-6 District 10-3A victory Friday night at Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium.

The Comets (4-3, 2-0) out gained Donaldsonville in total yards 275-190 with 267 of it coming on 38 rushing attempts. The Tigers (3-4, 0-2) cut the deficit to 14-6 at the half but could get no closer losing their third straight.

St. Charles jumped ahead on an 8-yard run by Joseph Chiarella in the first quarter. Keenan Gauff’s 60-yard run and the second of three extra points from Cameron Fabre made it 14-0 in the second frame.

Donaldsonville’s only score came on a 28-yard touchdown reception by Tyrese Ester from Josh Collier. The Comets final score was from a pass by Justin Dumas in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers travel to Lusher Charter (1-6, 0-2) Friday night in New Orleans. Donaldsonville defeated the Lions 54-16 last season.
