D’ville, ACHS continue to roll over Port Allen, KIPP

DONALDSONVILLE – The Fighting Tigers (2-1) won for the second consecutive week pitching a shutout over Port Allen (0-3) Friday night at Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium.

Freshmen quarterback Treveyon Brown completed 9-of-13 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown and Raeland Johnson rushed for 81 yards and one score on 15 carries for coach Brian Richardson’s Tigers.

Johnson’s 24-yard run put Donaldsonville ahead in the first quarter and the Tigers led 20-0 at the half following Jeffery Johnson’s fumble recovery in the end zone and Savon Landry’s 39-yard run to pay dirt.

Christian Bell hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Brown in the third quarter and Jaquavius Tenner’s 42-yard run in the fourth reflected the final tally. Brown also connected with Tenner on a two-point conversion.

The Tigers travel to Morgan City (2-1) Friday night. Donaldsonville defeated the Tigers 44-6 last season.

ASCENSION CATHOLIC 56, KIPP RENAISSANCE 34

DONALDSONVILLE – The Bulldogs (3-0) poured it on in the fourth quarter to run away from KIPP Renaissance (1-2) Thursday night at Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium after the Bodcats cut the deficit to 22-20 in the third.

Junior running back Jai Williams, the son of former Louisiana career rushing record holder Germaine Williams, rushed for a school-record 406 yards and finished with five touchdowns.

Williams scored on runs of 33, 27, 51 and 25 yards and caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from John Mire.

Dorian Barber had first quarter touchdowns runs of 33 and 37 yards and Mire connected with Eric Simon for a 13-yard score as Ascension Catholic built a 22-0 lead in the first half.

The Bulldogs, who are averaging over 60 points a game to open the season under coach Drey Trosclair, host Thomas Jefferson (1-2) Friday night. Ascension Catholic defeated the Jaguars 47-7 last season.

HOUMA CHRISTIAN 39, ASCENSION CHRISTIAN 22

HOUMA – The Lions (0-3) took an early lead for the second straight week but Houma Christian (3-0) exploded for four second quarter scores on the way to an easy victory Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Zachary Diez was 15 of 31 passing for 197 yards and two touchdowns, both to Nathan Bledsoe, and Hunter Jacobs added 52 yards rushing on nine attempts including a 10-yard touchdown.

Tyler Cambre had five receptions for 81 yards and Bledsoe finished with 62 yards receiving.

The Lions, under coach Josh Puryear, travel to Westminster Christian Friday night. The Crusaders (0-3) defeated Ascension Christian 21-7 last season.
