The series began in 1979 and has been continuous with the exception of 2005 when the two schools did not play that year because of hurricane Katrina.

The most points St. Amant has scored in a game in the rivalry occurred in 2014 when the Gators won 57-34. EA’s 42-41 overtime win in 1990 is their high-water mark in points scored in a game in the series.

The largest margin of victory is 48 points and occurred two year’s ago in St. Amant’s 54-6 win at The Pit. There has been one shutout in the series and that occurred in 1995 when St. Amant blanked EA 28-0.

The Spartans have the longest winning streak with six straight wins from 1981 through 1986, while St. Amant’s longest win streak is four in a row from 1997 through 2000.

St. Amant has had six different head coaches since the series began with Doug Moreau leading in games coached with 13. Moreau and his successor David Swacker have the most wins as head coaches in the series with seven apiece.

Darnell Lee is the eighth head coach for EA in the series. Van Lambert coached EA to a 6-2 mark in his eight years at the school on Worthey Road. Bill Beasley, from 1996 through 2006, had a 3-7 mark as the Spartans head coach against St. Amant.

At Spartan Stadium, EA is 10-8 against the Gators and the Spartans have won 3 of the last 4 games played in Gonzales.
