Lady Gators rally by Dutchtown in District 5-5A softball

ST. AMANT – St. Amant was forced to rally by Dutchtown but remained undefeated in District 5-5A play with a 4-3 victory Tuesday evening at Lady Gator Park.

St. Amant (13-1, 3-0), under coach Amy Pitre, fell behind 3-2 in the sixth inning but Julia Kramer and Sophie Smith each drove in runs in the bottom half to prove the difference.

Alyssa Romano gave up three hit and struck out four to pick up the win for St. Amant. Dutchtown, coached by Nancy Ensminger, countered with McKenna Rarick.

Kramer was 3-for-4 for St. Amant and Rylee Rossi was 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Kassidy Hood drove in two runs for the Lady Griffins.

Dutchtown went ahead in the sixth when Romano hit Hood with the bases loaded to drive in Katelyn Bessonette. Brynne Songy followed with a sacrifice fly to score Anna Jones.

Kramer’s double drove in Rossi who walked in the bottom half. Smith’s single followed to reflect the final tally.
