Spartans down Dutchtown in district opener behind Blaise Foote’s pitching, hitting

GONZALES – East Ascension dropped Dutchtown 6-2 in the District 5-5A opener for both teams Thursday behind the pitching and hitting of senior right hander Blaise Foote.

Foote pitched a complete game allowing just two runs on six hits and was 2-for-3 at the plate including an RBI-triple.

The Spartans (11-11), under coach Kade Keowen have now won eight of their last nine games after a 3-10 start.

Dutchtown’s Will Reed took the loss surrendering five runs in five innings. The Griffins fall to 13-9 under coach Chris Schexnaydre.

East Ascension scored their first run on Foote’s triple. In his next plate appearance, Foote singled with two outs.


In the fifth inning, Kael Babin reached base on a bunt and stole third before scoring on Grant Griffin’s single. The Spartans’ final run game on a double steal.
