CENTRAL – Walker High School scored the winning touchdown with just over a minute to play claiming a 26-24 District 4-5A victory over Central on Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats (6-2, 3-0) erased a 10-point deficit in the final six minutes and handed Central (7-1, 2-1) its first loss of the season.
Senior wide receiver Brian Thomas scored the winning touchdown with 1:10 remaining on a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ethan McMasters. Thomas finished with five catches for 51 yards.
McMasters’ 54-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Richard had cut Central’s lead to 24-20 earlier in the fourth quarter. McMasters completed 13-of-17 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
Isaiah Rankins’ second touchdown of the evening gave Central a 10-point lead a few seconds before the flea flicker. Rankins had 127 yards on 14 attempts.
Walker is now in a tie with Zachary (5-2, 3-0) for first place in district standings and hosts Livingston Parish rival Denham Springs (1-7, 0-3) Friday night.
